IN APPRECIATION
All Carnegians are extremely grateful to Mrs. Eva Bishop, Wichita Falls, Texas, for her work in compiling this program and to William Mulvehill, former Dale Carnegie Sponsor, Washington, D.C., for his time in editing. We hope this booklet and its success will reward Mrs. Bishop and Mr. Mulvehill for their generous contribution of time and talent.

HOW TO USE THE NEW DIMEMSIONS FOUR-STAR
"ALIVE AND ALERT" PLAN TO INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT
Each chapter program is to designate and use a portion of the time at each meeting for the Four-Star ALIVE and ALERT session. During this session, the members will participate and complete the various experiences required in the planned four steps to individual achievement.
Many of these experiences can be met in the usual program routine such as giving warm-ups or making impromptu speeches. One session of a program can easily be devoted to impromptu speeches occasionally, giving all participating members an opportunity to complete that experience in Step I.
The objective is for each member to have all experiences in each step. Each complete step is to be completed in numerical sequence. Since there will be variances in progress among the members due to absences, new and reinstated members, and the like, the portion of the meeting designated for the ALIVE and ALERT session will give each member an opportunity for individual achievement.
Before each meeting, the members will notify the program chairman, or m/c, which steps they have prepared and wish to present during the ALIVE and ALERT session. This may be done by mailing a postcard (addressed to the Program Chairman of the next meeting) to be mailed five days before the coming meeting, notifying the Program Chairman of the members' objective in that meeting. (Any method may be used.) This portion of the program can be versatile and entertaining.
The Executive Committee, verified by the president, will give final approval of the experience being adequately achieved. Standards must be kept high to encourage adequate preparation, thus producing skillful and professional achievement and progress in the performance.
The Chapter Secretary will maintain an individual achievement and progress record for each member, appropriately recording the date each step is completed. Achievement records are included in this booklet.
When Primary Step I of the Four-Star ALIVE and ALERT program is completed by a member, the chapter president will submit a certified Individual Achievement Record to the Executive Director. Upon receipt of the record certifying the completion of Step I, the Executive Director will send to the president a certificate of recognition for this completed portion. The One-Star emblem is available from International Headquarters.
To provide proper recognition and inspire continued participation, the chapter president will present the certificates and emblems in an impressive ceremony at a chapter meeting.
The same procedure will be followed as each successive step of the Four-Star ALIVE and ALERT plan of New Dimensions in Individual Achievement is completed. The finishing of Progress, Step II, means the member will receive a certificate of recognition and earn the right to wear a Two-Star insignia. For Advanced, Step III, a Three-Star emblem and certificate; and for the final, Professional, Step IV, a Four-Star insignia with the recognition certificate designating the completion of the entire Four-Star ALIVE and ALERT program for Individual Achievement, through Speech and Service.
Carnegians, wearing the Four-Star membership pin, will be readily recognized as those of outstanding accomplishment and as effective, experienced leaders.
The steps, (Primary, Step I; Progress, Step II; Advanced, Step III; and Professional, Step IV) must be completed in numerical sequence. The Executive Director will not release an Achievement Record for Progress, Step II, until the certified completion for Step I has been received from that respective member.
The experiences, however, within the steps can be completed at random. For instance, a member may qualify for completing experiences within Steps II, III or IV before completing Step I, but a certificate of completion for Step II cannot be issued until all the requirements of Step I are met.
To qualify for the Four-Star ALIVE and ALERT emblems and the Certificates of Recognition for the designated four steps, ALL members, regardless of length of membership, and previous accomplishments, through participation, MUST begin on an equal basis. All members will begin the assignments - Primary Step I.
Members who complete ALL steps in the Four-Star ALIVE and ALERT plan for Effective Leadership, will be appropriately recognized at the International Convention.
The presentation ceremonies upon completion of the different steps will be impressive, dignified, complimentary and enthusiastic. These ceremonies will serve as a motivating factor for other members to complete the ALIVE and ALERT plan for effective leadership.
Your Success in the New Dimensions booklet with the Four-Star ALIVE and ALERT plan for Individual Achievement, depends upon you... use it Effectively and ... Don't revert - Continue ALIVE and ALERT.
